A message from Sanjay:

My journey in bartending began over 10 years ago, and somewhere along the way, what started as a job became something I truly loved. I’ve had the opportunity to work across a wide range of hospitality environments in both Nepal and Canada — from busy clubs, pubs, and restaurants to cocktail bars, hotels, private events and flair bartending.

Each environment taught me something different. Working in busy clubs taught me how to stay calm under pressure. Restaurants and pubs taught me the importance of consistency and great service. Cocktail bars helped me appreciate the craft and creativity behind every drink, while hotels and private events taught me how to adapt to different guests, occasions, and expectations.

Through all of these experiences, I realized that bartending is about much more than making a great drink. It’s about connecting with people, making someone feel welcome, working confidently under pressure, and creating an experience they’ll remember.

As I gained experience, I also realized how much I enjoy helping others learn. I remember what it feels like to be new, to have questions, and to wonder if you’re really ready to step behind the bar. That’s a big part of why I decided to create Shake & Stir Bartending Academy.

I wanted to create a welcoming, hands-on space where people can learn without feeling intimidated, get behind the bar, make mistakes, ask questions, and build real confidence. A place where you’re not just memorizing recipes, but developing the practical skills, knowledge, and mindset that make a great bartender.

Shake & Stir is very personal to me. It’s built from my own experiences, my love for hospitality, and my belief that everyone deserves a chance to learn, grow, and discover what they’re capable of.
